Mid brown premium ale. Tart, sweet taste to start with a good bitter overtone. Slightly spicy aftertaste.
Lieutenant General Butt
First sampled in Coanes, Johnstone in August 1993. Copper red in colour with a thick creamy white head. Winey fruit in the aroma with a decent mouthfeel. Mixed malts with crystal malt evident give a slightly boiled cabbage flavour but fruit notes come through with black grape and overipe cherry. Vinous dry oak cask flavour in the drying aftertaste. Warming vinous mellow finish. An old fashioned type of ale and a good session beer.
Brown coloured with a distinct sweetish taste and evidence of fruits. Not my favourite but acceptable for a couple of pints.
