Sampled this winter warmer special in Esquires, Glasgow (JDW) in November 2007. Copper red in colour with a thin white head and good lacing. Powerful malty aroma with a hint of nutmeg and cloves. Smooth juicy mouthfeel. Pale malt complexes give a robust almost spicy digestive malt base. Overipe figs and plump juicy raisins impart an initial sweet syrupy fruit note. Warming complex aftertaste of dry woody oak and creamy vanilla. A well crafted winter warmer.

Reddy brown in colour and in good nick with a good creamy head. A complex, sweet, rich taste was only spoilt by a little clinging from the syrupy feel. This was forgotten though in the good bitter aftertaste and robust strong feel to finish.
